A royal expert believes Prince Harry might be struggling to fully adjust to life in the U.S. since he and Meghan Markle moved overseas almost five years ago. Despite the time that’s passed since stepping down as working royals, one commentator suggests Harry hasn’t quite found his footing in California.
In recent months, Harry and Meghan have made more solo appearances, which many royal watchers think is part of a conscious effort to redefine their public images separately. Polls indicate their popularity has waned, so they may feel that presenting themselves as individuals could help rebuild their image.
While Meghan has big dreams of establishing her lifestyle brand in the U.S., royal journalist Phil Dampier suspects this shift is leaving Harry nostalgic for his old life. “Meghan is focusing on her brand and Netflix, while Harry’s been handling his charity work on his own,” Dampier shared with Fabulous magazine. “It seems he’s feeling the pull to reconnect with friends back in the UK and Africa for causes like WellChild and Sentebale.”
Harry’s solo appearances, combined with his trips with Meghan this year, have left some observers wondering if he’s truly comfortable with the high-profile American lifestyle. “At times, he seems uneasy or bored during events with Meghan, whether it’s showbiz outings or sporting events,” Dampier noted, describing Harry as “a bit of an accessory” while Meghan takes the lead.
Despite Harry’s longing for familiarity, it’s unlikely he’ll permanently return to the UK, according to Dampier. “Meghan isn’t well-received back there, and it seems they’re heading in different directions, even if subtly.”
Unsurprisingly, these observations have fueled rumors of tension in their relationship. But close sources say there’s no need for speculation, reminding us that it’s normal for couples to pursue separate interests. We’ll share more updates as this story unfolds.
